Modifiers will last for only as long as they are designed to, unlike Buffs and Debuffs, which will stay until they are used. These can be seen as Buffs and Debuffs, but work a little differently. There is also a Status Effect, called Modifiers, that modify the base damage of a card. However, Protectorate does not actually grant any buffs apparent around a player, and all benefits will disappear once the player moves out of the aura or if Protectorate expires. For example, the card Protectorate creates an aura that acts as if everyone standing in it had a +50% defense buff, in additional to any buffs they may have on them. Some cards will summon auras that act as though a person has extra buffs or debuffs but are not listed as an item on their buff/debuff wheels. This means a player cannot have 9 attack buffs at once, or 5 attack buffs and 4 attack debuffs. However, if the other person has 2 defense buffs at the same time, instead of Arcane Blast dealing 38 damage ( Arcane Blast does 50 base damage plus 50% (75) subtracted by 50% of 75 (-37.5 damage), the attack buffs give a +50% buff which is then immediately taken away by the -50% defense buffs, resulting in Arcane Blast dealing its normal 50 damage instead.Īdditionally, a player may only have a maximum of 8 attack buffs/debuffs at a time and 8 defense buffs/debuffs at a time. For example, if a person attacks another person using Arcane Blast with 2 attack buffs, they would normally deal 75 damage. However, because defense buffs and attack buffs work on one single scale, players may receive a buff amount different from what they may expect. For example, the card Attack Buff will give a 25% attack buff, but the card Guided Strike will give a 35% attack buff.
Some cards may give larger amounts of buffs or debuffs than others.
